The Ace Frehley/Gene Simmons feud which has erupted online in the past couple of days just took a turn for the weird.
The troubles began earlier this week, when Simmons gave an interview in which he claimed that Frehley and former Kiss drummer Peter Criss were “fired — three times” from the band for “drugs, alcohol, bad behavior, [and] being unprofessional.” Frehley subsequently took to Facebook to fire back, calling Simmons “an asshole and a sex addict” and accusing the bassist/singer of groping and propositioning his longtime partner, Rachael Gordon (Ace calls her his “wife,” although he’s legally still married to another woman, Jeanette Trerotola).
Now Gordon has also taken to Facebook to respond to Simmons… and she actually claims that the band tried to whack Ace in the 70s:
“Let me tell you.
They tried to have Ace killed in the 70’s. Tried sending him to a so called ‘private party’ in the Bahamas.“Ace is VERY sober now and knows what’s happening.
He sees things clearly now.
He doesn’t need a chain of low brow restaurants; he plays the guitar. That’s what he does.“FUCK THEM.”
Ms. Gordon has not offered any additional details. And maybe that wouldn’t matter… except this is a fairly outrageous claim to make. It’s no secret that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are assholes, and Simmons is most certainly guilty of assaulting women. But it seems like a stretch that the duo, even at the height of their fame and power, would have tried to end Ace’s life.
But who knows? Stranger things have certainly happened. Hopefully Ace or Rachael tell the full story soon. Was there a hitman involved? Were they just hoping Ace would overdose at the “party”? Did they leave a black widow spider in his bed? Lock him in a room and make him listen to John Denver on repeat until he begged for death? Please, give us more!
