It never even occurred to me that Death, as personified by the actor William Sadler (The Shawnshank Redemption, Die Hard 2), would return for Bill & Ted 3, which will actually be called Bill & Ted Face the Music. How foolish of me! In today’s nostalgia-dominated world, of course they’re bringing back Sadler.
The news was made officially by the movie’s Twitter account:
For those who have been asking, @Wm_Sadler will totally be reprising his role! pic.twitter.com/jPDZyseotu

Obviously we don’t know how large a role Death will play in the movie; he could still be a part of Wyld Stallyns, as he was when we last saw him in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, or he could just be a quick cameo. We also don’t know which other characters from the previous films will be returning; Rufus is obviously not coming back, since George Carlin is dead, and we can assume The Princesses are still in the picture, but what about Bill & Ted’s dads, Missy, and, of course, Station?
What we do know is that the movie starts filming in New Orleans this summer for a August 21, 2020 release date. So expect lots more casting news in the coming weeks.
