There is a sense of dread permeating Appalling‘s new album, Inverted Realm. The riffs used are twisted and inverted and each melody is haunting (and occasionally soars) against the crushing, high-speed backdrop that is Appalling’s music. There are clear similarities to bands like Morbid Angel and Absu, plus a hint of Cannibal Corpse, throughout Inverted Realm, adding a blackened touch to their sound.
“All your thoughts and prayers will burn away…” Appalling told Decibel about the record.
Inverted Realm is out tomorrow on Redefining Darkness.
