Lamb of God: Thief Attempts to Sell Stolen Equipment Online

When two pieces of valuable equipment were stolen from Lamb of God at the Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, AZ last week, Vince wisely noted that “Due to the highly customized nature of both instruments, it’s extremely unlikely the thief will be able to sell them without someone taking note.” And as it turns out, Vince was correct.

The PRP reports that one of the stolen items — a guitar belonging to Willie Adler — was listed for sale on OfferUp just days after it was stolen. In fact, this Facebook post from Cattle Decapitation frontman Travis Ryan shows that the thief was so bold as to outright include Adler’s name in the listing:

So the person who stole this shit either has big balls or small brains. It’s likely the latter: the Phoenix New Times says that a fan who calls himself Jay Thrash attempted to ensnare the larcenist by reaching out and offering to buy the guitar with the intention of using the sale as a sting operation, and was even in contact with Adler about doing so…

…but unfortunately, the robber chickened out, pulled the listing, and even went so far as to change his OfferUp profile photo (Mr. Thrash did manage to get a screen cap of the original profile photo, but other than telling us that the seller is bald, it’s not very helpful). It’s like it didn’t even occur to this asshole how hard it was gonna be to unload the stolen items until way after the fact.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Vince Lewis confirmed the authenticity of the guitar on OfferUp, but declined to provide any additional intel, asserting that “The more [information] we release, the harder it becomes to catch up with a suspect or locate these items before either go underground or into the wind.”

In addition to Adler’s guitar, the thief made off with a bass belonging to John Campbell.

Because the theft occurred while Lamb of God were preparing for a show with Slayer, Adler has theorized that the culprit was, in fact, an employee of the Ak-Chin Pavilion. The venue says that they are “cooperating fully with local law enforcement.”
