Hi reddit! So I'll cut to the chase: I'm a wimp. I'm a big wimpy wimperton. I've been involved in a (currently somewhat private) metal project with some friends, and I'm one of the vocalists, with a baritone range. Another vocalist does raps/aggressive singing (So with our group, think Limp Bizkit but actually good LOL. Only joking), and while I've had this need to be aggressive in my own way, I can't. Mind you, I live with my folks right now and part of my issue that I'm SUPER self-conscious about them hearing me, EVEN THOUGH my parents have said "Hey, we don't mind you trying that, just don't hurt yourself!" I still just find myself freezing up and not wanting to go above a certain level of volume, that level of volume basically being a slightly loud whisper. I've seen all these tutorials about fry screaming and using your diaphragm and all that, but, idk. I feel like in combination with the first issue, I can't project. I can't belt out those gritty vocals I wanna do, and have been wanting to do for nearly 2 and a half years. I don't expect anyone to reply to this, but it'd be incredibly helpful if y'all had some sort of slight confidence-booster that helped you out, if y'all were in the same predicament as I'm in right now. AND If y'all have any in-depth tips on really reaching that grit and volume, please do tell. Thank you for reading, and have a heavy metal day! \m/
(A good example of my voice is in the opening of this video, for anyone who needs a more clear idea of what I sound like [Sorry it's an annoying gameplay video lol]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USFBntcSEtU)
