I’m new to the genre and I’m not completely sure if I really like it or not, but hopefully these questions being answered could make me enjoy it more. •I can’t understand the lyrics, should I try to make an effort and maybe read lyrics while I listen, or should I just consider it another instrument, and will I be able to understand over time while listening to more metal?
The 2 albums I’ve listened to are Unhallowed by The Black Dahlia Murder and In Sorte Diaboli by Dimmu Borgir, I enjoyed both though Unhallowed significantly more. I know it’s an odd choice seeing as I don’t think the two are the same type of metal but I’m still at an early stage where I can’t really tell the difference, leading to my next question
•I know there is a difference between genres, but what are those differences?(I don’t understand most musical terms so it’s probably gonna be hard to explain)
•Do I need to listen to a bands whole discography cause that’s the main thing that is stopping me from listening to bands like Slayer and Iron Maiden, I feel that there’s too much music for me to listen to
•And lastly if anyone has recommendations for bands, the albums I should listen to from those bands, and that bands genre to avoid confusion, I would really appreciate I thank everyone that actually read this and that will be kind enough to help me out
