With the release of EP New Language earlier this month, Seattle based rock outfit Dead Lakes have thrown the rule book out the window, refusing to conform to industry demands and instead focussing on releasing an album that defines where they are at as a band.
“I would say we’re still early in on what we are capable of doing musically”, measured vocalist Sumner Peterson. “I think our goals with New Language were basic level ones because we want to create a foundation for what we do in the future, but I think our goals were to write better songs in general – so better songwriting habits – and also to learn more and I think along our journey of writing New Language we really did that.
